A short page about my CJM P-51D. I originally purchased this kit
back in the early 90's (if memory serves). For whatever reason
I couldn't get excited about building it. Finally pretty much
turned things over to my father. He needed a project. It was finished
3 years ago, except for radio installation. I pushed that task
through this past winter and finally flew it in the summer of
2007. There were a few issues that had to be overcome, the largest
was the timing of the CH ignition on the ST2500. My first two
flights were made with the engine only turning about 7,000RPM.
They were marginal at best. Finally just pulled the spark plug
and installed a glow plug and we're off an running (usually at
8,000+). It now flys like you would expect a fighter to fly. Here
are a few pictures and a video to look at.
